About GRO Salem
Growth in the Rural Ozarks (GRO) is an economic development program initiated by Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO). GRO is designed to create sustainable plans for long-term economic growth in rural Ozark towns, including Salem. Since 2016 GRO communities have been working with Cleveland-based Innovation Economy Partners with support from the CFO, USDA – Rural Development and local stakeholders. GRO Salem is leveraging prior economic development efforts. GRO Salem has implemented a variety of projects and is currently in the process of developing an updated economic development strategy. GRO Salem’s vision for 2040 is for Salem to be recognized for its innovative rural economy, above average community wealth and focus on long-range planning for sustainability.
